NEVC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (Week Ending 1/28/24)
Smithfield, R.I.- The New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 1/28/24. The full list of honorees can be found below.
Athlete of the Week
Jake Laborde (So., OH), Endicott College
Sophomore Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) led Endicott to a 3-2 week behind 63 kills (4.20 k/s), a .283 hitting percentage, a .947 serve receive percentage (75-79), and 16 digs (1.07). Laborde totaled 10 or more kills in four out of five matches, highlighted by a career-high 18-kill effort (.433) against No. 13 New Paltz. The sophomore outside notched 53 of his 63 kills in the Fenway Classic tournament his past weekend, earning All-Tournament Team honors for his efforts.
Rookie of the Week
Darius Dorsey-Rhule (Fr., OH), SUNY Potsdam
Freshman Darius Dorsey-Rhule (Elmont, N.Y.) recorded 12 kills, 10 digs and three blocks in a 1-1 weekend for the Bears. Against Elmira on Friday, he posted three kills, three blocks and four digs. In Potsdam's dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Thiel on Saturday, he added a career-high nine kills to go with six digs.

The conference is comprised of eight institutions, Bard College, Eastern Nazarene College, Endicott College, Nichols College, Northern Vermont University – Johnson, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Potsdam and Russell Sage College.
