NEVC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (Week Ending 2/18/24)

Smithfield, R.I.- The New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 2/18/24.  The full list of honorees can be found below.

Athlete of the Week

Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (Sr., OH), Eastern Nazarene College

Senior Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, P.R.) compiled 40 kills at a .397 clip, leading the Lions to a 2-1 week. He added 14 digs, eight service aces and three total blocks. He started the week with 20 kills against Emmanuel, and capped the week with 14 against American International.

Rookie of the Week

Alex Lombardo (Fr., S), SUNY Potsdam

Freshman Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y.) tallied 36 assists and averaged 5.14 assists-per-set in his two matches this weekend against Elms College and Brooklyn College. The freshman also posted seven digs and two blocks to compliment his assists.

 The NEVC is a NCAA Division III single-sport conference sponsoring the sport of men’s volleyball. The conference is comprised of eight institutions, Bard College, Eastern Nazarene College, Endicott College, Nichols College, Northern Vermont University – Johnson, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Potsdam and Russell Sage College.
